A benediction to myself

Learn to lower my barriers,

I don’t need to be protected from everyone.

Open my floodgates,

When drought chases me.

Place that smile on my ageing face,

Without wondering when it’s going to be taken away.

Delve into new passions,

Forgetting the cruelty of the ones I knew before.

Give without hesitation,

Even when all I’ve known is take.

Dedicate my world to love,

Not remembering how easy it was for you to break my foolish heart.

Find sweetness in honey,

As there is peace with every sadness
